Step 1. Inspection and Consultation

We begin with a full assessment of your timber floors. This includes checking for wear, scratches, cupping, loose boards and any existing coatings. Once we understand the condition of the floor, we provide a clear and itemised quote so you know exactly what the project involves. More information about our service can be found on our [Floor Sanding Gold Coast] page.

Step 2. Preparation

Before sanding begins, all furniture is removed and the area is made safe. Any loose boards are secured and nails are punched down. If needed, old adhesive, glue or paint is removed to prepare the timber for sanding.

Step 3. Coarse Sanding

The first sanding stage removes the old coating and levels the timber surface. This step uncovers the fresh timber underneath and provides a clean foundation for the finer sanding stages.

Step 4. Medium and Fine Sanding

We gradually refine the surface using higher grit levels. This smooths the timber and prepares it for coating. Corners, edges and hard-to-reach areas are completed with specialist tools to ensure an even result throughout the room.

Step 5. Full Cleaning

A thorough vacuuming removes all dust and fine particles. A clean and dust-free surface is essential for a smooth and professional finish once the coating is applied.

Step 6. Staining. Optional

If you want to change the colour of your floors, this is the stage where stain is applied. We offer a wide range of popular stain colours suitable for coastal and modern Gold Coast homes.

Step 7. Coating Application

We apply multiple coats of premium floor finish in your chosen sheen. You can select matte, satin or gloss depending on your style and how much shine you prefer. Each coat is carefully applied and allowed to dry properly.

Step 8. Curing

Once the final coat has been applied, the floors need time to cure. You can usually walk on them lightly in 16 hours, or if oil/solvent has been chosen as the system it will be the next day. Full curing takes 24-48hrs days for the coating to reach maximum hardness and durability.
